This is a true story about a close friend of mine.
She had been through some really tough times.
It felt as though things couldn't get any worse at that time and then, her 12 year old dog, a black great schnauzer had to be put down. Her trusted friend through theses tough times was no longer there to greet her when she came home from the slog of work.
With her two teenage kids spending most of their time out, the house never felt so empty and alone.
this was in the build up to Christmas 2017 and regardless of the advice she was being given about not getting another dog right away she started looking.
She found a so called reputable breeder in Tonbridge Wells in Kent.
And went there to have a look at some golden retrievers, you can guess what happened next. She feel in love with one and decided to make that dog a new addition to the family.
She would have a new addition to the family ready for Christmas.
This dog was lovey and playful and my kids loved it (they were 5 and 3 at the time) he was very “Bitey”
He seemed to be much harder work than her previous dog, the dogs of her friends, family and of course the other dogs in the park.
The bigger the dog got the more difficult he was to handle, and he wasn’t out growing his habits and it now become a problem to take him out.
He couldn’t go off the lead as he would jump up and strangers, kids and other dogs, and he would sometimes pull her along so powerfully that she was convinced he would get away.
She had a dog trainer once a week, and things would clam down but then the “techniques” they were using wouldn’t work any more. And the emotional stress was just getting worse without her seeing any improvement.
You see the was one thing that she found out after she got him and that was,
The people she had brought him from had lied about his age.
The thinking behind it (She was told) was that the breeders knew she wanted him for Christmas and had taken him away from his mum too early.
The dog, become so uncontrollable that it brought her to tears and had to give him away.
She has yet to get another dog and it looks as though she may never again be a dog owner. She has been so sacred by this experience its so sad.
If only she was Aware of absolute dogs naughty but nice DVD .
A specific training for dog owners who dread taking their dog out because they spend the whole time wondering how he will act and what others will think of them.
Understanding that she was not alone and there was hope even when it felt like there was none, just knowing that this DVD had helped thousands (yes you read that right) of people who had been through the same struggles and had results that she believed to be impossible.
Simple techniques based around “Games” not hard discipline that would have let her understand just what was going on with her dog and why?
She may have never gotten to the point where she believed that her relationship with her dog was so broken and that she was so embarrassed with his behaviour that she had to give him up.
This DVD could have re- egnighted her passion for helping her dog, and turn those tough struggles as strengths that would build on her relationship with her one time best friend.
That this could have helped her become the expert of her dog and help other who have been through a similar situation.
