The Tomato Technique
So yesterday I had to jump on the old
“Pomodoro technique”
Pomodoro is the Italian word for tomato
But I’ll get to that In a minute
I literally only had 40 minutes to get
some work done
On the Computer
So the best way to condense time
Is to have the impending doom of a
deadline
Notice how much stuff you get done
before you go away?
How productive you are?
That is the power of a deadline
A proper f*cking, all hell breaks loose
if it don’t get done deadline
But having no deadline bleeds the
opposite
Task time expansion
Think of it this way,
When you have to be out of the house
The morning becomes very productive
You condense a lot of stuff into a small
period of time.
Now take a day when you don’t have to be
out the house ASAP
The same simple stuff
Clean teeth,
tea,
breakfast
Morning macker
Get dressed
Now takes a whole lot of time
The task will always expand to the time
you give it
The body will always do whats
comfortable and of course
people need time to relax,
They won’t put a deadline on something
that doesn’t necessarily need it
Pomodoro is a way around that
You set a time period for the task with
a rest time added in
So you could have 25 minutes for the
task with 5 minutes rest
In that rest you can do anything you
want
Cup of coffee
Quick sh*t
Rub one out
But it cant be part of the task.
Because you know you’re going to reward
yourself with a break
And you only have 25 minutes to get
stuff done
You do MORE in the 25 minutes
Remember simplicity is where success
lives
Less checking Facebook and anyone that
interrupts you gets an angry middle
finger
There are free apps for this too
That have a ticking clock in the
background
Nothing like a ticking clock to Hurry
the hell up
You will get more done in that 25
minutes
Because you are competitive, even
against yourself
And that’s why we love golf
Which reminds me
I am now fully booked for the golf
