Your #1 Asset In Golf

Your #1 Asset In Golf

How to use focus (part 2 in the fairway 4) to change our stories to move us from the pain of weakness and inflexibility, the lack of confidence to a place that makes you more powerful, strong, more confident, with more focus to not give up after a month.

If your body is your number one asset in golf then,

It must be serviced maintained built on daily to become more powerful.

Think of it this way.

If you think your most valuable asset on the golf course is your golf clubs and not your body you are destined to blame the tool and not do the work required to get better.

However, your body dictates:

Your ability to move,

The quality of that movement,

And how you can deliver your new shiny golf club to the ball.

If you've got a limited range of motion on the backswing, and you can get more range of motion from your body, you now don't have to put your body under the same amount of pressure for the same outcome.

If you are doing more than just stretching (which can make you deliver less power in some cases) and doing what you need for yourself, then you have just become more powerful.

If you do this daily, you now can become more than just powerful and most importantly you become more efficient.

Let's say you hit a club, you can pick any club you want, but you hit this particular club 120 yards with a full swing.

But with an increase in range of motion and motor control, you can now hit that same club 130 yards.

Or, hit the same 120 with ease as you have become more efficient.

Your body, being a major asset, and the work on your body is your number one target.

It's your body that gets you out of bed,

your body that drives you to the golf course

which dictates how you play golf,

your body goes with you everywhere.

If you can get it into your head that your body is your number one asset, you will start looking after it.

Be aware that if, something goes wrong in your body,

it affects your golf,

it affects your confidence, and obviously affects your ability to get everything you want.

However, on the other side of doing the work is a body that has

the power,

the strength,

the energy,

the health, all based on how you treat it.

And one reason why you should embrace this really takes it to a deeper level is,

You are the only one that can look after your body because, without it, you can't become who you want to be.

So a question..

Where is the one place in your body on a day to day basis, where you are treating it as though it is the last thing you need to think about and what is the one thing you can do today so that you change that tomorrow?

Remember, your body is your number one asset. So, you know the score.

You've got a plan, you've got the actions to take, grab a pen and paper, write it down, get clear.

Strong, Flexible and More Distance in golf..

Strong, Flexible and More Distance in golf..

Once you’re in a position that you’ve got measurable data (the first part of the fairway 4 system) then you can try and link it up to what you want to achieve.

By deciding and even better declaring where you want to go you can start to see what’s possible for you.

How you can link it all together so that your body can become a path to make your golf better, whether it’s a body that feels flexible or a body to feel strong, or

a pain-free body that allows you to accelerate your golf.

Which powers you to get better with every year that passes rather than worse.

And then you’re in a position that your body actually feels stronger and more energetic and you are more motivated.

This leads to more power and is seriously beneficial in your golf swing, and how far you hit a golf ball.

When it comes to the mindset you feel you’ve got that power and confidence that builds and builds and you can get to a point where you have superior confidence (this is when people will accuse you of not caring)

You now feel comfortable in other situations around or away from golf that you may not have felt comfortable in before.

You literally do not give a Fxxx…

Imagine you have this ability to put yourself in confidence, daily.

In Unbreakable we use the belief transformer.

But the core idea is that there’s a reason why you’re taking the actions you’re taking and it is based on what you believe about yourself.

You have a target that you’re working towards today.

And the stories you tell will either make you get closer to that target or further away.

Focus (Part 2 of fairway 4) on what you need to think to get what you want by challenging your stories daily.

When you do this it now bleeds over into everything else in your life so now you are more confident when you stand on the first tee, in a meeting or in uncomfortable situations.

This doesn’t mean you will always succeed (this isn’t a movie) but you do start to not be scared to fail.

So here’s a question to ponder,

What actions and targets would you move towards today if you were not worried about failing?

Issues that you’ve suffered with for years can be dealt with because you’re dealing with them in your body, and in your mind and it is making your body better.

which means you’re moving on to a position where your golf is getting better.

You are more powerful.

You are stronger,

you are more flexible,

you don’t feel like you need to hit the cover off the golf ball all because you started taking care of your body, and because you started questioning the stories in your mind.

This all leads to building behaviours and habits that physically make you better.

That’s why when we know where we are and we know where we want to go we can build a path to get there based on what others have done.

It seems so simple but no one does it, it’s like, fat loss and weight loss.

One of the easiest things that anyone could do that would help them lose weight is to track what they ate.

That is it.

Pick any diet,

Pick any exercise, and just track everything you eat, and you will lose weight.

People would rather follow crash diets, they will buy things that dehydrate them so the scales say less.

But they won’t track…

Because they have to be ACCOUNTABLE

And it’s no different with the golf screen and assessment or anything we do in Unbreakable golfers, it’s the simple stuff, the simple stuff like

questioning your stories,

getting results so you’ve got more confidence.

Tracking your screen,

seeing where your limitations are,

finding how does that limitation affect your golf?

And then, taking action…

I imagine like most golfers there is a serious limitation in your screen that is affecting your golf in either flexibility, power or even confidence.

So again, jump in to the screen, take it, get some information, get your figures for today and decide where you want to go because if you know where you want to go, the next step is to choose a clear path to get there.

And a proven way to get there that becomes easier, starts here.

Tight, Weak, Painful Golf..

Tight, Weak, Painful Golf..

Filling out questions, forms and assessments is all about getting data and your mind right.

We’re basically trying to find out what most golfers suffer from (Or at least think they suffer with) in their body.

Most often they feel their body feels tight or,

feels weak or,

it feels painful, and they either know it’s affecting their golf or they just don’t realise how much it’s affecting their golf.

The point is as you start to get older, if you don’t start focusing on how you improve your body then the body slowly gets worse, as every year passes.

Add in the amount of force that’s being put on it for a golf swing, and it can be accelerated.

Then, add in those awkward positions from sitting at work and this starts to hinder how you hit a golf ball, some people travel, four or five hours per day in a car and you know this affects their golf.

Any of this tightness can lead to weakness, which can lead to tiredness which ends up coming down to a lack of motivation.

At this point the body’s now the furthest thing from being powerful or feeling powerful and being able to have a powerful golf swing.

Shifting this problem to their mindset, they now lack the confidence and have to fake confidence with bravado (or they have to start making excuses before they play) and their Golf suffers anyway because the mind is already set up for failure.

This belief that the body feels tired, weak, or painful stops them from moving forward in a lot of ways.

People get caught up in this story of pain, or tightness or weakness the body actually makes that TRUE.

If you ain’t got range of motion in a certain area,

You’re not going to ever get into that position, because your brain is trying to protect it.

This is why when someone hurts their knee, they may limp after the pain goes away.

They’ve built the movement pattern into the body which has now become the new normal…

This can happen in the mind as well.

People have patterns, habits, behaviors and beliefs that stop them from moving forward.

And that’s why, above all we need to get clear on where they are, right now, what are the Figures, the data today…

If a golfer feels weak is it because of pain now or past pain…

Full treatment days at golf courses we would see golfers who look like they suffer from a huge lack of flexibility but with simple assessment we see that have a lot of the range of motion, and it was just their own brain, putting the block on because they think they don’t have it.. (It seems crazy but it’s actually quite clever)

Then we would work through certain simple movements and the range of motion, the flexibility was there all along and with daily correctives they get to keep that new movement and use it to generate more power in the golf swing.

I did a clubhouse talk the other week and a pro asked me “what do you define as golf fitness” and to me it very simple.

It is anything you do to your body that makes it better.

It doesn’t have to be a specific exercise (we use everything through the powerful fairway 4 framework ) it’s just something that makes you better, play better, think clearer, act better, behave better, wherever makes you ultimately better.

That could be simple breathing exercises or it could be your getting under a heavy squat rack.

Again, that’s why we always go back to the fairway four part of figures (Fairway 4 is Figures, Focus, Fitness, Function) where are you now, what is your data telling us,

what is your range of motion,

what does your TPI screen say,

how much power do you feel you have, compared to the power you used to have and then from there, we can build something out.

So, in my opinion, the best thing anyone can do is try and find out where they are now…

What does your range of motion tell you about where you are trying to go and what could get worse if you do nothing?

Inside the FREE Unbreakable golfers app, go to The screen and assessment section and just work through it and see where you’re stuck and how this links to where you could be stuck on the golf course.

Because when you link the two together, it gives you the leverage on yourself to move forward and not give up.

So what I suggest you do if you don’t know where your body is screen yourself. (Self assessment should be mastered)

If you think you’ve got an issue with your body and wonder how it’s affecting your golf and your mind on the golf course try and get some measurable data,

because with that measurable data, you’ll be much clearer on the way to move forward.

There’s more than enough free information in this app for you to walk through that.

If you want it, it’s here.

Golf Performance Systems

When you are clear on your targets and want to stop yourself from destroying any momentum that you have built, then

A system is the best way to go.

A system won't allow you to just go through the motions or,

Hide from doing the work you need for results...

The fact is the reason why people don't take action is that they are either not clear on:

what they want

on where they want to go or,

they have no system to keep them on track on what to do NEXT...

So if you know what you want to achieve then the next step action to take is staying consistent.

And this is why using a system like Fairway 4 (Which is figures, focus, fitness, function) let you frame out your next step actions so that you have no excuses for not knowing what to do next.

4 key points you need to know:

where you are right now,

where do you want to go,

what do you need to think to get there and,

what is the next step "physical" action to take?

Then work out how to fit it all together and link it to your body, your mind and your golf.

When you link it all together you have a system.

Most people know roughly what their targets are, what their goals are and what their aspirations are, but

they don't believe they can achieve them.

They have stories that run through their head that I like,

"I can't do this",

"I'm not good enough",

"It won't work"

But by challenging those stories, challenging those beliefs and getting yourself in a position that you can remind yourself daily of your goals, where you're trying to go, what you're trying to achieve and changing those stories, then you can go,

from, "I can't do this" to "I can do this",

from "I'm not good enough" to "I'm good enough",

from "This will fail" to "this will work".

That's the whole point you need to be able to reframe.

When it comes down to the focus side you want to become elite and self-assessment.

A level where you can assess yourself and get yourself into a position that you know what your limitations are in your body and you correct it.

You know what your limitations are in your thinking and you correct it.

You know how your limitations in your body and your thinking links to your golf and then correct it.

On the fitness side of things you know your targets inside out, you know what's going to stop you from taking actions so you deal with them first.

When it comes down to function, well, you could just read your targets daily and adjust your focus, fitness and function to get the results you want.

Just by reading your targets daily, you're going to get clear on what your obstacles are, which will give you the focus to know what you need to do to challenge those obstacles, whether they'll be in your body, your mind or your golf, and take the actions necessary to get the results you want.

All so very, very simple.

What I suggest do next is just remind yourself of what your targets are and every day, work out what the obstacles are in a way.

Take action on one obstacle a day and re-assess at the end of the week.

Golfing frameworks for living differently

So yesterday,

I put the final touches to the Unbreakable Golfer's Elite pre coursework,

The last video that these scratch players will go through before jumping on the live recordings.

Basically, the whole 30-minute training is a detailed framework to follow to start ingesting all the content in Unbreakable Golfers.

There's the mindset side of things.

There's the body/swing links.

There's the nutrition side.

There's the fitness side.

There's strategic target setting, and it can become massively overwhelming.

And people need a clear framework for the best results so they can physically see where there are going and how.

But as well so they can actually start consuming the content needed to be prepared for each call and build on the foundations that they built the week before.

It comes down to this...

"Without frameworks, you become overwhelmed".

That happens all the time people don't have a framework to do the work they need to do, so they just wake up and let the day dictate to them what to do.

In your body with diet and exercise.

You eat what you eat or what you feel like, or you eat what you always eat.

There's no strategic planning there's no framework that you're using for your diet so it's chaotic.

The same thing with exercise, unless you're going into a specific exercise training like jujitsu or something where you're coached through frameworks (curriculum), then your exercises can be a bit sporadic.

You just go for a run or do some press-ups or some stretches or,

you don't do anything because you've got no framework.

In mindset, something happens that throws off your day and you've got no framework to rely on to think through problems and situations and this brings more self-doubt.

And then you look at your targets and you start to believe that you are not good enough to pull them off, or,

there's too much work to do.

Even golf has a framework.

Imagine being on a tee box and you didn't know which green to aim for.

So you just randomly hit the ball towards what looks like a fairway and seeing what you get when you get out there.

With frameworks things are different.

In your body, you have a simple set of actions that you know that you can do daily that improve the way you eat, improve the way you feel about the way you eat.

You have a simple set of actions that you do for exercise that make you better and move you closer to your long term targets,

you have a simple set of actions that you do daily that you use to build confidence, and actually, bury the self-limiting beliefs that have held you back, trying to go after what you want for so long.

With golf, you follow a simple set of actions that make you aware and enhance your strengths are while finding your biggest weaknesses and work on them and you work on them daily.

That's the whole point of proven frameworks and the whole point of Unbreakable Golfers Elite.

Simple to follow frameworks where I coach the golfers through what they will consume to get where they want to go and build their own plan from there.

It's that simple way to use all the tools and tactics that I've been obsessed with and using in golf performance for the last 10 years.

Anyway, if this feels like something you might be interested in soon, and you want to start consuming Golf performance content based around frameworks then download the FREE Unbreakable Golfers app here and start changing what you believe is possible.
